The resort was awesome. The checkin was quick and easy. They will try to get you to go to a seminar. It’s up to you. We did not. They were not giving away anything free. Not even breakfast.

Stay was very good however some significant problems. Communications were poor from the start: eg. not finding out about happy hour 12 - 2 till half way through our stay. Sales presentation was offered to us with 5 days after our arrival.
Worse meal I ever had at any resort. Ordered for dinner the hamburger and a beer. The centre of the burger was colder than my beer. Had to ask for ice for my beer as it wasn't even cool. The burger was raw. My wife's dinner was very good, however she said I should have sent mine back or not pay but it already had taken a long time to get it. Everything else was great but the dinner the last night was very disappointing leaving a bad taste about the resort. We had dinner 3 times at the resort, once at Cirque du Soleil, and once the Mexican Dinner Show. Both were very good and Joya was best dinner I never had.

Beautiful resort and very friendly staff. Great pools. On site "grocery" store was convenient. You can also take the $8 US shuttle to Playa Del Carmen to shop at the Walmart or Mega. Shuttle to/from the airport for $15 US each way. Would definitely stay here again.

The Mayan Palace Resort at Vidanta Riviera Maya, Mexico was just lovely! While the studio room we stayed in had some very minor issues (we couldn't get the TV to work for 1.5 days, and the curtains had been pulled off of the track very slightly) our stay there was wonderful. The staff could not have been any more accommodating. They were extremely friendly and always greeted you with a smile. Our daily maid service was efficient and quick. The staff knocked on our door daily to make sure we had everything that we needed in the room. While an upgrade to a larger room, or an upgrade to the Grand Mayan Resort (another resort on the property) would have been very nice, there were just the two of us on this trip and the Studio was all we really needed. The only thing I did miss was a kitchen to occasionally prepare our own meals. The Studio room didn't have this. But since it was a vacation, eating out every night was just fine with me.

I have been a member at Mayan Palace since 2003. Since then have upgraded to Bliss, and some of their other residence clubs. The RESORT is ***** 5 stars as usual, can't be beat! We have stated at some of the other levels at Vidanta the past few years. This year we traded in one of our other weeks and stayed at the Mayan Palace. The rooms were clean and comfortable but VERY WORN DOWN. The buildings need a paint job and the bathrooms/tub showers, etc all really need upgrading. The living area furniture was very worn and were not very inviting. Vidanta is definitely investing in their property, the theme parks and resort amenities, but I would not expect too much for the rooms. If your main thing is to get to a BEATUIFUL RESORT, with friendly staff, good restaurants and pools, then this is an inexpensive way to get in... just be mentally prepared if you are expecting more. We LOVE that the resort is not a forced all-inclusive. The 2 for 1 drinks from 12pm-2pm at the pools is nice too. Over the past few years we felt the pricing at the restaurants was "fair and resonable" compared to other places but note that like everywhere else, the prices have gone up a bit.
*NOTE* THAT AT RIVIERA MAYA THE RESTAURANT PRICES INCLUDE GRATUITY. They used to point that out all of the time but stopped. Not sure how much of that actually goes to their staff but we reduced our tipping compared to other years since the prices increased considerably, we figure the tips did too! It would be nice if the resort gave you an indication of how much tip goes to the staff! AT NUEVO VALLARTA TIPS ARE NOT INCLUDED. Be sure to ask when you book and your servers when you are seated.

This is a beautiful resort. My only complaint was the walls allow a lot of noise between rooms. I had trouble sleeping. The beds were uncomfortable to me.
I loved everything else. The food was excellent! Especially Del Lago. Their breakfast was the best I've ever had. Everyone that works there was very nice and helpful. I would definitely go to Vindata resort again.

Good experience. Impeccably clean. A little difficult to find your way around if you want to walk but the tram cars are very timely. One big issue is that there's no way to get a quick coffee early in the morning. Certainly can make some in the room, but there's no real cream or milk. I'm a grouch without coffee. You have to get up and walk a good 5-10 min.

The location was perfect - just a block or so from most places we wanted to see and easy to walk around. We had everything we needed and groceries, etc close by - 15 min walk - and attractions the same. An easy city to walk around and feel safe and secure.

Resort was great. Prior to going I couldn.t believe all the negative comments about the resort.The only real true one was that the beach was rocky.But the beach at Playa del Carmen was beautiful and the beach 15 mins to north of resort was great.I think the other comments were just sour grapes.I will definately go back.
